The Chiefs (17-2), who earned the top seed overall, captured the AFC Championship with victories over the Buffalo Bills and Houston Texans. The Eagles (17-3), who claimed the second seed, captured the NFC Championship with victories over the Washington Commanders, Los Angeles Rams and Green Bay Packers.

The two teams, who met in Super Bowl LVII two years ago, are the last left standing in the latest installment of a whirlwind NFL season full of surprises.

Will the Chiefs make history with an NFL Super Bowl 3-peat, or will the Eagles exact revenge and crown themselves champions for the first time since 2018.

In a season full of close calls, Kansas City is going to have to earn their Super Bowl 3-peat against arguably their toughest test in the Patrick Mahomes era.

Guided by veteran head coach Andy Reid, the Chiefs are an unusual blend of luck and perseverance, shedding their dominant demeanor from year's past for a magical monarchy. They have won 15 consecutive times in games decided by seven points or less.

Mahomes, a three-time Super Bowl champion, is the maestro under center. He tallied 3,928 yards with 26 touchdowns and 11 interceptions, averaging the eighth-highest QBR in the league.

In the two-game playoffs, Mahomes has thrown for 422 yards and two touchdowns, while adding 18 carries for 57 yards and two touchdowns.

In his second stint with the Chiefs, Kareem Hunt has emerged as the main factor in the backfield. He had 200 carries for 728 yards and seven touchdowns. Hunt has racked up 25 carries for 108 yards and two touchdowns this postseason.

Due to injuries, the Chiefs are thinner in the receiving core, but still present problems.

High-profile tight end Travis Kelce has shaken off a sluggish start to make an impact. He has amassed 97 receptions for 823 yards and three touchdowns in the regular season. Kelce has retrieved 9 of 12 targets for 136 yards and one touchdown this postseason.

Rookie receiver Xavier Worthy has dazzled in his debut season. He hauled in 59 receptions for 638 yards while leading the team with six touchdowns.

In his first playoff run, Worthy has caught 11 of 13 targets for 130 yards and one touchdown.

Veteran receiver DeAndre Hopkins is a wildcard for the Chiefs' offense. Acquired six games into the season, Hopkins has put up 56 receptions for 610 yards and five touchdowns, averaging 10.9 yards per reception. He has nabbed one reception this postseason.

The Chiefs' stats are almost unrecognizable for a team that has made a habit of appearing in the Super Bowl. This year, they were 15th in points scored per game (22.6), 16th in total yards per game (327.6) and 14th in passing yards per game (222.4).

With all of their mediocrity, Kansas City has maintained a key advantage in time of possession, holding the ball for 31:06 per game, which is sixth in the NFL.

Their defense has also bailed them out time and time again, allowing just 19.4 points per game, which is fourth in the NFL. They are allowing 320.6 yards per game, which is ninth in the league.

Pivotal to this matchup, Kansas City is allowing 101.82 rushing yards per game, which is eighth in the league.

Defensive tackle Chris Jones notched 19 tackles with five sacks and one forced fumble in the regular season.

Linebacker Drue Tranquill's impact has been sizeable for a Chiefs defense that bends but rarely breaks. He recorded 54 solo tackles and two sacks in the regular season.

Chiefs' kicker Harrison Butker missed four field goals (21-25) this season. Two of those misses came from 50 or more yards. He has no shortage of iconic moments in the Super Bowl.

The Chiefs have won nine straight postseason games, which is tied for the second-longest streak in NFL history.

After a heartbreaking 38-35 loss two years ago, head coach Nick Sirianni and Philadelphia are back to finish the story. The Eagles have lost just three games all season and have ripped off a 15-1 record since Week 5.

Quarterback Jalen Hurts orchestrates a lethal offense with 2,903 passing yards to go along with 18 touchdowns and five interceptions. Hurts remains a steady threat on his feet, amassing 630 yards and 14 touchdowns on the ground.

Hurts was especially efficient on the patented Tush Push attempts. According to NextGen Stats, he converted 35 of 43 (81.3%) attempts this season on third- or fourth-and-one from anywhere in play, including the 1-yard line bulldoze.

In three playoff games, he has 505 yards and three touchdowns through the air, while racking up 23 carries for 122 yards and four touchdowns on the ground.

Philadelphia's second-ranked dual-rushing attack (179.3) is anchored by newly named NFL Offensive Player of the Year, Saquon Barkley, who came within 100 yards of Eric Dickerson's single-season rushing record, finishing with 2,005 yards and 13 touchdowns on 345 carries. He became the ninth NFL player in history to ever rush for 2,000 yards in 16 games.

Barkley's postseason has picked up where he left off with 66 carries for 442 yards and five touchdowns, including some memorable house calls.

Of the 19 games he has played this season, Barkley has rushed for over 100 yards 14 times.

Hurts has plenty of weapons in the receiving core, including A.J. Brown, who notched 67 receptions for 1,079 yards and seven touchdowns in the regular season. DeVonta Smith hauled in 68 receptions for 838 yards and eight touchdowns.

Brown has hauled in nine receptions for 120 yards and one touchdown this postseason, while Smith has caught all 12 of his targets for 121 yards.

Tight end Dallas Goedert is a sneaky playmaker to advance the ball. He has racked up 42 receptions for 496 yards and two touchdowns, averaging 11.8 yards per reception. Goedert has snagged 15 of 18 targets for 188 yards and one touchdown in the three-game playoff push.

Combatting Kansas City's stinginess with the ball, Philadelphia is third in the league in time of possession, holding the ball for 32:22 per game.

The Eagles' defense was the best in the NFL during the regular season, holding opponents to a grand total of 4,732 yards (278 per game). They allowed 17.8 points per game, which was second in the league.

Philly is known to shut down offenses completely. They are first in the league in passing yards allowed per game (174.1) and second in the league in rushing yards allowed per game (179.3)

Philadelphia was formidable foe when turnovers arose in the regular season, racking up 26 takeaways, which was the sixth-most in the NFL. The Eagles were also sixth in turnover differential and allowed only six interceptions all season.

Safety CJ Gardener-Johnson notched six interceptions with 12 pass deflections, one interception and 35 solo tackles in the regular season campaign. He is a staple on the defense and a gamechanger.

Linebacker Zack Baun amassed 93 solo tackles with 3.5 sacks, five forced fumbles and one interception. Baun boasts a wrecking ball defense that can stymie even the most dangerous offenses in the league.

Eagles' kicker Jake Elliot enters the game having missed eight field goals (28-36) this season. He is 1 of 7 from 50 or more yards. It could come down to a chance at redemption on the grandest stage of them all.
