A TAIWANESE TV host, who has won multiple Golden Bell Awards (Taiwan's Emmys), has been selling sweet potatoes online to settle debts, Sin Chew Daily reported.

Peng Chia Chia, 69, worked day and night to promote the sales on the Chinese Douyin app. This has earned him praises from netizens.

He was declared bankrupt after he ran up debts amounting to RM33mil due to failed movie business ventures in 2020.

In the past few years, he was seen selling various products to clear off his debt.

About four months ago, he sold chicken eggs for RM60 per packet of 30 eggs. He would even autograph them once they were sold.

Recently, he appeared at a farm, tasting the sweet potatoes himself and interacting with online buyers.

"He is certainly a responsible man who doesn't leave his debt to his family," someone said.

Another person commended him for going to the farm.

> Nanyang Siang Pau reported that Taiwanese actor and singer Alec Su You-peng, 51, has apologised for his remarks about buyers of regular-priced tickets to his Sept 11 concert in Beijing.

He said that his remarks were made impulsively.

"What I really meant to say is that I hear your desire to listen to my songs, so please don't buy tickets just to see my face. I hope you won't misunderstand my intention after this," he said.

Before the apology, he had put up a post on his Weibo account telling buyers of regular-priced tickets not to attend the concert if they insisted on taking photos of him.

"This is a concert, not a photo- taking event. I sell art, not my body," he said in response to some fans' comments that they would not attend the concert if they cannot get VIP tickets.
