Driver arrested for DUI after crashing car into ravine

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) - A woman was arrested for DUI Wednesday morning after crashing her vehicle into a ravine.

Around 9:45 a.m., the Grand Junction Police Department responded to reports about a hit-and-run incident near North 12th Street and Bookcliff Avenue.

Authorities were told a black SUV was allegedly driving erratically and collided with two vehicles and continued heading northbound on 12th. Not long after, officers got a report of a car - traveling through a roundabout at North 12th Street and Horizon Drive - that crashed into a ravine.

After officers arrived on the scene, they reportedly found the same black SUV matching the hit-and-run crash from earlier.

The driver was taken into custody by the GJPD and transported to a nearby hospital by the Grand Junction Fire Department with minor injuries. An occupant of one of the cars from the hit-and-run was transported to the hospital for minor injuries.

After being released from the hospital, the driver of the black SUV - 57-year-old Brenda Jordan - was arrested for DUI and careless driving. She was later released on a summons.

The police department said there is no further information at this time.
