Symmes Valley takes down Meigs in high-scoring bout - WOUB Public Media

The 2025 matchup between Symmes Valley and Meigs was an electric one with no shortage of scoring. At Meigs Stadium, it was the away team coming away with a 56-42 victory.

A lost fumble halted the promising first drive that had Meigs all the way in the red zone, opening the door for Symmes Valley. Vikings WR Jackson George capitalized and ran all the way into the end zone on a long ball from QB Bronx Carpenter.

The favor was soon returned by Meigs RB Beckham Blackston, with a rushing touchdown to get the Marauders into the scoring column. After a missed PAT, putting the score at 7-6, the Vikings coughed up the football, and a Marauder defender jumped on it to force a turnover.

Meigs QB Gunner Cleland went on to find WR Griffin Hudson in the end zone, and WR Isaiah Arms reeled in the 2-point conversion, giving Meigs a 14-7 lead after quarter one. Early in the second, Symmes Valley WR Andy Strow danced around in the flat and took a quick pass to the house, bringing the away team within 1 point after a missed PAT attempt. Freshman WR Jeremiah Martin made a statement to keep the Meigs offense smoking hot, dragging defenders with him into the end zone for 6 points. Another 2-point conversion by Arms made it a two-possession affair, 22-13.

Symmes Valley flipped the script quickly with back-to-back touchdowns and an end zone interception in between the two. Vikings RB Asher Maynard bullied his way into the end zone out of wildcat formation, and Strow caught his second touchdown of the night to give the Vikings a 27-22 lead at half.

Symmes Valley WR Jackson Fields opened up the second half scoring, climbing the ladder and made a contested touchdown catch to extend the Symmes Valley lead. Meigs WR Griffin Hudson then routed up his defender with the end-zone fade for a touchdown, bringing his team to within 4 points.

Meigs DB EN Metzger then picked off Carpenter with a wild diving play, but the ball came right back to Symmes Valley after a fumble. Maynard bullied his way into the end zone yet again for Symmes Valley, and Griffin Hudson responded with a back of the end-zone catch to keep Meigs alive.
