Two Colorado authors will speak about their books and answer questions during a brunch event on Sept. 27 to raise money for college scholarships.
The American Association of University Women will host Conversations with Authors featuring Cynthia Swanson and Bob West from 9 a.m. to noon Sept. 27 in the Deveraux Room at the Rialto Theater Center in downtown Loveland.
Swanson writes psychological thrillers, often using historical settings. Her debut novel, "The Bookseller," was a New York Times bestseller, won the WILLA Literary Award and is scheduled to become a motion picture produced by Julia Roberts. Another novel, "The Glass Forest," was a USA Today bestseller, and "Anyone But Her" won the 2025 Colorado Book Award.
She lives in Denver.
West is a third-generation Colorado resident whose first career was as an architect in Boulder. Looking for an escape from 60-hour work weeks, he and his family bought a working cattle ranch near Wheatland, Wyo., and he then wrote the book, "Twenty Miles of Fence: Blue Print of a Cowboy," according to a release.
After 15 years of weekend visits to his ranch and at the end of his career, West moved to a smaller ranch near Livermore. He now owns and manages The Forks Mercantile and Saloon.
Proceeds from the event, which costs $50, will boost the AAUW's efforts to provide scholarships to local women.
Reservations must be made by Sept. 13 and should be sent to Karen Danbom, 2581 Mary Beth Drive, Loveland, CO 80537. Checks should be payable to Loveland AAUW.
