Rain for Halloween? Check out this spooky forecast

Rain for Halloween? Check out this spooky forecast

We're cruising into the weekend with cooler temperatures here in Boston. But as we look toward Halloween, some rain might dampen your plans.

As we move through this Saturday, expect cool weather. High temperatures will be in the mid 50s under mostly sunny skies. Tonight, lows will drop into the upper 30s and lower 40s.

On Sunday, after a chilly start, high temperatures will climb into the low 50s.

We'll have great weather for the Patriots-Browns game at Gillette Stadium Sunday afternoon under partly sunny skies. A couple of showers might sneak in for our coastal communities late Sunday night.

Our forecast next week is still looking a bit spooky as a developing storm to our south has its sights set on New England (maybe) by mid/late week with rain and wind. However, there are a few challenges with this forecast.

The main challenges are that some of our forecast models are not agreeing with the timing and the track of the system moving northeast. Some models have periods of rain and wind impacting Greater Boston Wednesday and Thursday, with showers lifting to the north by Halloween afternoon.

Others have a slower track, with rain and wind impacting our area through the day Thursday and Friday and exiting our region by Saturday.

And yet another model keeps the storm completely offshore, keeping our rain chances very low, allowing us to salvage Halloween altogether. So, there are still an ample amount of question marks with this forecast.

What we do know at this time is that we will likely see scattered rain here in Greater Boston with this developing coastal storm next week, with rain chances increasing by mid/late week. But the track and timing of the system's arrival and exit will determine how much rain we'll see, how much wind we'll feel, and if we will see a dry or wet Halloween next Friday.

So, don't cancel your Halloween plans right now. Just check back in with your NBC10 Boston First Alert Forecast for updates.

High temperatures for much of next week will be in the low to mid 50s.

We're also tracking the latest with Melissa in the Caribbean. This storm is expected to produce catastrophic flash flooding over portions of Jamaica and Hispaniola through the weekend as it strengthens. Melissa is forecast to become a major hurricane soon. The storm is not expected to impact the U.S. directly over the next several days.
