An Iqaluit man is facing 26 criminal charges, half of which pertain to the illegal possession of long rifles.

Gordon Blakely, 43, was the subject of a police investigation that began on Nov. 6 relating to break and enter and theft.

Blakely faces 13 counts of possession of a weapon obtained by commission of offence, each for illegally possessing firearms, Sgt. George Henrie, Nunavut RCMP Media told Nunavut News.

He's also been charged with six counts of possession of property obtained by crime, two counts of careless storage of a firearm, one count of theft over $5,000, one count of break and enter, one count of theft of a credit card, one count of fraudulently obtaining food or lodging, and one count of using a forged document.

"Blakely was remanded into custody, and his next court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 2, 2025," RCMP stated on Nov. 21.
