Revamped design with motion wallpapers, AI fonts, and enhanced Always-On Display.
Oppo has officially unveiled ColorOS 16, its latest Android-based operating system built on Android 16. The update will debut in India with the OPPO Find X9 series launch this November. The new software update, Luminous Rendering Engine and Trinity Engine, work together to make everyday use feel effortless. On top of that, ColorOS 16 will also bring new AI features, improved visuals, and plenty of customisation options.
For the unversed, the upcoming Oppo Find X9 series, powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 9500, will be the first to ship with ColorOS 16 out of the box. The phone will launch globally on October 28, followed by the India launch on November 18. Here's everything to know about ColorOS 16.
ColorOS 16's Luminous Rendering Engine will enhance visuals and animations. Meanwhile, the Trinity Engine focuses on performance and battery efficiency. It will help the app open faster, keep multitasking smooth, and ensure games run without lag.
ColorOS 16 also adds AI features, including AI Portrait Glow, which improves low-light photography by automatically adjusting brightness and shadows for more natural portraits.
Beyond the camera, OPPO has integrated AI tools that suggest text styles, optimise app performance, and make everyday tasks simpler.
Additionally, Oppo has redesigned ColorOS 16's interface with light and shadow for a more immersive feel. It will let users set short videos or motion photos as wallpapers, try AI-suggested fonts, and customise their home screen in new ways.
The Always-On Display has also been improved, letting users access features like notifications, reminders, and live updates even when the screen is off.
While OPPO hasn't officially confirmed the global rollout date for ColorOS 16, it's expected to arrive shortly after the launch of the Find X9 series. In India, the new operating system is likely to debut on November 18, alongside the Find X9 lineup.
