Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin is expected to make a decision on his future with the team later on Saturday. However, earlier in the day, "College GameDay" analyst Nick Saban appeared to hint that Kiffin has already made up his mind.
"What do you do at Ole Miss when they have never been in the SEC Championship Game ever and if Alabama loses they get in the SEC Championship Game and they're not going to allow Lane to coach in the game? That's crazy," Saban said.
Fans on social media had some wild reactions to Saban's comments.
"He let the cat out of the bag. Pat tried to corral it but it was too late," a third commented.
Here are a few more reactions.
"No what's crazy is the fact you would tell someone to leave a playoff team. There is no guarantee he ever makes it back. No guarantee of anything in life. But right now he has a 11-1 team he should not leave. Don't think you would quit on a playoff team..," one wrote.
"LSU would be completely fine with Lane coaching through the CFB Playoffs as long as there was an agreement in place...," another added.
"Saban already stooping for Lane and Jimmy. Ridiculous. Ole Miss has every right to not let him coach if he's leaving for one of their biggest rivals, in the middle of their best season ever," a user tweeted.
According to reports, Kiffin has received a $90 million contract to coach at LSU. His current contract at Ols Miss runs through December 2031.
It remains to be seen whether Kiffin will remain with the Rebels next season or coach elsewhere.
Lane Kiffin has led Ole Miss to its first 11-win season this year. The Rebels have also effectively qualified for the College Football Playoff for the first time.
However, it's unclear if Kiffin will coach Ole Miss in the playoffs. He has been noncommittal about his future with the program.
