Automotive Exports Reached $2,7 Billion in August

According to OIB data, Türkiye's automotive industry exports increased by 1,3 percent in August, reaching $2,7 billion. The industry, which remains the country's leading exporter, saw its exports increase by 13 percent from January to August of this year, reaching $26,5 billion.

OIB Chairman Baran Çelik said: "Last month, we recorded double-digit increases in the tractor-trailer and bus-minibus-midibus product groups. We achieved a 41 percent increase in exports to Germany and a 59 percent increase to Spain. In the first eight months, we were the sector that made the largest contribution to Turkish exports."

According to data from the Uludağ Automotive Industry Exporters' Association (OİB), Turkish automotive industry exports increased by 1,3 percent year-over-year in August, reaching $2 billion. The industry, which remains the top exporter in Turkey, accounted for a 733 percent share. In the first eight months of the year, automotive industry exports increased by 12,5 percent, reaching $12,9 billion.

Baran Çelik, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the OIB, said, "As the Turkish automotive industry, we maintained our export leadership in August. We recorded double-digit increases in the tractors and bus-minibus-midibus product groups. We achieved a 41 percent increase in exports to Germany and a 59 percent increase to Spain. By exceeding $26,5 billion in total exports in the first eight months, we became the sector that made the largest contribution to Turkish exports."

In August, exports of the supply industry, the largest product group, increased by 1 percent to $1 billion. Passenger car exports fell by 221 percent to $2 million, while exports of motor vehicles for transporting goods fell by 705 percent to $9 million.

Bus-minibus-midibus exports increased by 26 percent to 272 million dollars, while tractor unit exports increased by 19 percent to 127 million dollars.

Germany was the top export destination in the Supply Industry, with exports increasing by 8 percent. Among the key markets, exports to Italy increased by 19 percent, Poland by 12 percent, Morocco by 62 percent, and the Czech Republic by 21 percent. Conversely, exports to Spain decreased by 11 percent and the Russian Federation by 53 percent.

Exports to France, the country with the largest passenger car exports, increased by 7 percent, while exports to key markets Spain and Germany increased by 48 percent and 68 percent, respectively. Conversely, exports to Italy decreased by 28 percent, Slovenia by 14 percent, and Poland by 52 percent.

In motor vehicles used for transporting goods, exports increased by 343 percent to Germany, 194 percent to Spain, and 36 percent to France, while there were decreases of 52 percent to the United Kingdom, 19 percent to Slovenia, 29 percent to Belgium, and 46 percent to Italy.

While significant increases were achieved in bus-minibus-midibus exports to Germany, Italy, Spain and Poland, significant increases were recorded in tractor unit exports to Spain, Germany, Poland and Ireland.

Exports to Germany, the country with the most exports in August, increased by 41 percent to $499 million. Exports to France increased by 14 percent to $281 million. Exports to Spain rose by 59 percent to $238 million.

Last month, exports to major markets such as Morocco increased by 97 percent, the Czech Republic by 19 percent, and Portugal by 21 percent, while exports to the United Kingdom decreased by 28 percent, Poland by 10 percent, Belgium by 11 percent, and Russia by 52 percent.

In August, European Union countries topped the list of exports by country group, with a 72% share and $1 billion. Exports to EU countries increased by 958%, while exports to other European countries decreased by 12%. While exports to the North American Free Trade Area increased by 28% and to African countries by 10%, exports to the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) decreased by 23%, to the Middle East by 26%, and to other American countries by 32%.
