Pickup towing a boat crashes in Arkansas City, driver arrested

ARKANSAS CITY, Kan. (KSNW) -- Police, fire and EMS responded to a crash in Arkansas City early Friday morning and found a pickup had crashed into a utility pole. The pickup had been towing a boat.

The crash happened around 3:20 a.m. in the 1400 block of N. Summit Street, in front of Scooters Coffee.

Police say they found the driver, a 65-year-old man from Moberly, Missouri, walking near the scene. Officers booked him into jail on suspicion of DUI and transporting an open container.

The City of Arkansas City says Evergy has been notified of the damage to the utility pole. Crews have temporarily secured it; a complete replacement is scheduled for Monday.
