Outside of Daniel Hudson, who was ticketed for the opening day roster pretty much from the start of spring training, Crismatt was the first of the non-roster invitees to join the Dodgers during the season, called up on March 31 during the first weekend of the regular season.
Crismatt, a changeup specialist who threw the pitch 70 percent of the time in the majors in 2024, got into a game on his very first day and pitched two scoreless innings, but was then sacrificed to the fresh-arm gods as the Dodgers called up Nabil Crismatt the next day.
The veteran Crismatt accepted an assignment back in Triple-A, and put up a 7.36 ERA in 11 innings in his four games with Oklahoma City. He allowed only one earned run in the first three of those games in the minors before allowing seven runs in a game on the moon in Albuquerque.
Crismatt got the call back up to the Dodgers on April 27, but this time with a number change. He wore number 74 back in March in his one game, but in his second stint with the Dodgers switched to number 70. Crismatt said the change was in deference to longtime Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen.
Crismatt got into four games during his second go-around with Los Angeles, all of them coming on the road. He allowed three runs (two earned) in five innings during this stretch, and took the loss by allowing a walk-off home run to Christian Walker on April 30 in Phoenix, the culmination of a game delayed 115 minutes at the start at the start by bees.
The Dodgers designated Crismatt for assignment on May 15, and he elected free agency a week later rather than accept another assignment to Oklahoma City.
During his time in the organization, Crismatt had 21 strikeouts and no walks in 19⅔ innings between Triple-A and the Dodgers, with a 4.58 ERA.
Crismatt spent the remainder of his season in the Pacific Coast League, first with Round Rock after signing with the Rangers, then in El Paso after signing back with the Padres, one of his old teams. He did not pitch in the majors again This season after leaving the Dodgers.
Crismatt's first game with the Dodgers was his only one this season at Dodger Stadium, on March 31 against the Cardinals. He entered in the seventh inning down by two runs, and left after the eighth with the same score, after striking out three in two scoreless innings.
Home runs by Teoscar Hernández and Max Muncy in the eighth inning made Crismatt a winner. He's one of 25 Dodgers pitchers to notch a win in 2024, matching the 2023 team for the franchise record and matching the Marlins for most winning pitchers on a team in 2024.
