Ruth Helen Winterfeldt, 99, of Brownton passed away Oct. 6 at Hillcrest Rehabilitation Center in Mankato. Memorial service was Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Brownton, with interment in the church cemetery. Clergy officiating was the Rev. R. Allan Reed. Organist was Karen Buckentin. Congregational hymns were "Beautiful Savior," "I Know That My Redeemer Lives" and "Jesus Lives, The Victory's Won." Urn bearer was Dan Petersen.

Ruth was born June 29, 1924, in Penn Township, the daughter of Karl and Louise (Albrecht) Winterfeldt. She was baptized as an infant and was later confirmed in her faith as a youth, both at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Brownton. She attended Immanuel Lutheran parochial school and graduated from the eighth grade in 1938. Ruth continued to live on the family farm after the death of her parents, where she helped with keeping the house and preparing meals for her brothers and sister who lived there with her. She was the proprietor of her own business raising and selling chickens and eggs in addition to working on the farm.

In 2001, after the passing of her brother, Harold, Ruth moved into an apartment in Brownton. She lived there for 15 years and enjoyed visiting with her neighbors and friends. Ruth was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Brownton, the church choir and Walther League.

Ruth enjoyed listening to organ music and classical music, especially Bach, and reading. She cherished the time she spent with family and friends.

In 2016, Ruth moved to Old Main Apartments, a senior living facility in Mankato, where she resided for two years until her health care needs made it too hard for her to live alone. Ruth moved to Hillcrest Rehabilitation Center in Mankato, and passed away there Oct. 6. Blessed be her memory.

She is survived by her nieces and nephews, Mary (Thomas) Petersen of Burnsville, Teresa (Cary) Casio of Mankato, Charles Winterfeldt of Plato, and Mark (Pat) Winterfeldt of Morgan, Janet Mackenthun of Glencoe, Betty (Larry) Meier of Stewart, David Winterfeldt of St. Peter, Jonathan (Cathy) Winterfeldt of Cahokia, Illinois, Joel Winterfeldt of Brainerd, Phillip Winterfeldt of Brainerd, Stephan (Pam) Winterfeldt of Brainerd, Alan (Robin) Winterfeldt of Shakopee; other relatives and friends.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, Karl "Charles" and Louise Winterfeldt; siblings, Walter (Elsie) Winterfeldt, Harold Winterfeldt, Clarence Winterfeldt, Frieda (Theodore) Wacker, Martin (Carol) Winterfeldt, Daniel (Olive) Winterfeldt, Herbert (Elaine) Winterfeldt, and Edgar (Ilo) Winterfeldt.
