Marvel Rivals PS4 Version Has Been Uploaded to PSN Backend for "Months"

With Marvel Rivals now one of the premiere free-to-play games out in the market, could NetEase be looking to expand its player base by adding players from the last console generation?

While we can't answer that accurately now, we do know that the developers have uploaded a version of Marvel Rivals for the PS4 on the PlayStation Network.

The news comes from reliable data miner PlayStation Game Size, who spotted the Marvel Rivals PS4 client in the backend "months ago" when MP1st asked them about it. While NetEase hasn't announced anything, PS Game Size noticed that the PS4 game client was updated to version 1.01, and that in "early August," it was added to the PS5 backwards compatibility list.

That doesn't mean it will get released, but it's also worth noting that Season 4 is about to start soon, so perhaps NetEase has a surprise in store for PS4 gamers?

We've reached out to the developers, and if we receive a response, we'll update the article with their response.

I honestly am curious whether the PS4 can even run Marvel Rivals, given its aging hardware. If NetEase manages to do that, it would significantly increase the player base. And if it's on the PS4, there's no reason not to release it on the Xbox One, either.

In other Marvel Rivals news, we recently had a sit-down chat with the developers about the game, during which several topics were discussed. I suggest giving it a read, as we asked the studio whether they're allowed to design their own characters for the hero shooter and more.
