While Team India is currently busy playing the ongoing Asia Cup 2025, India A will soon be taking on Australia A in the first unofficial Test. The India A vs Australia A four-day match is scheduled to be played at the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow from September 16 to 19.
The match will offer an opportunity for players from both teams to make an impact and stake their claim for selection in the senior team. India A will be led by Shreyas Iyer, who has not played a Test match since the home series against England last year.

The right-handed batsman also received a big setback recently when he was not selected in the India squad for the ongoing Asia Cup. Even after impressing as captain and a batsman in this year's IPL, where he led Punjab Kings to the final, Iyer failed to find a place in the Indian squad.
He will be desperate to make a big impact with the bat in the upcoming India A vs Australia A series to impress the selectors. A good performance against India A could also put him in contention for a place in the Indian Test team for the forthcoming home Test series against West Indies and South Africa.
The India A squad also has several seasoned players such as Abhimanyu Easwaran and Devdutt Padikkal. Easwaran was a part of the India Test squad for the England tour earlier this year, while Padikkal last played a Test during the tour of Australia last year.
Nitish Kumar Reddy and Dhruv Jurel are also named in the India A squad. Both players were in the Indian squad for the England tour. Reddy suffered an injury during the series but has now fully recovered for the India A vs Australia A series. On the other hand, Jurel has been named the vice-captain for the series.
The first India A vs Australia A unofficial Test will get underway at 9:30 AM IST on September 16. While the match will have a host of big names, it won't be telecast or livestreamed in India. However, the fans can catch all the action through our detailed scorecard here.
