Oscar de la Renta creative directors Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia to depart

The pair's final collection for the New York-based luxury womenswear brand will be for Fall 2026, and will be unveiled next February.

"With a heavy heart, Laura and myself want to let the world know we are completing our time at Oscar de la Renta next February and after are putting all our focus on Monse," said Garcia, in a post on the designer's personal Instagram account.

"We have spent half of our lives working with the incredible teams there plus the loving de la Renta family. It was a decision that came with much contemplation and while it is sad it is also exciting for all to begin new chapters next year. Laura and myself have nothing but magical memories and incredible gratitude to everyone at the company."

A successor has not been named.

Both Kim and Garcia began their careers at Oscar de la Renta, making their departure feel like the close of a significant chapter for the house.

Kim joined in 2003 while still a student, and Garcia followed a few years later as an intern, eventually working his way up within the atelier.

In 2015, the pair left and founded Monse, before returning one year later as co-creative directors of Oscar de la Renta, in 2016. Over the past nine years, the duo have been charged with designing the luxury brand's ready-to-wear, bridal, accessories, and children's collections.

The pair will now turn their focus entirely to Monse, which unveiled its latest collection in New York on September 14, as part of the most recent New York Fashion Week.

Oscar de la Renta has been absent from the official New York Fashion Week calendar since 2022.
