A Lancaster County judge handed a Chicago man his sentence on Friday for stabbing a Lincoln police officer on a bus in October 2023.Simon Kafka, now 28, will serve 20-30 years for assault on an officer and 10-15 years for use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony. He will serve those sentences consecutively with credit for 430 days served as of Friday.As previously reported, Kafka was arguing with officers on the bus when he stabbed an officer in the neck. Then, a second officer shot Kafka. Neither the officer nor Kafka suffered life-threatening injuries from the incident.Kafka pleaded guilty to the assault and deadly weapon charges in November.
