The Powerball jackpot is climbing toward the $1 billion mark for Saturday night's drawing, reaching an estimated $950 million after no one claimed Wednesday night's prize of roughly $850 million -- at the time the sixth-largest in the game's history.
The winning numbers were 9, 12, 22, 41, 61, with a Powerball of 25.
The estimated cash value for Saturday's jackpot is $428.9 million, up from Wednesday's $383.7 million, according to Powerball. All totals are calculated before taxes. As ticket sales continue to surge, the grand prize can grow even higher.
If claimed, the $950 million jackpot would rank as the sixth-largest in Powerball history, trailing only the $1.08 billion prize won in California on July 19, 2023.
A single jackpot winner may choose between a lump-sum payment or an annuity consisting of an immediate payment followed by 29 annual installments that increase by 5 percent each year.
No one has won the Powerball jackpot since May 31, when a California ticket claimed $204.5 million, with a cash value of $91.6 million. The odds of winning the top prize remain 1 in 292.2 million.
