Local artisans make holiday gifting a unique experience on Black Friday

SHARPSBURG, Md. (DC News Now) -- In western Maryland, dozens of craftsmen and women gathered for Christmas at the holiday market at Potomac Ridge Brewing.

The market features local artists with handmade gifts.

"Each person has to make their own product," said glass craftsman Michael Powers. "So when you're buying from one of us, you're buying a local person, a local artisan, supporting their efforts."

"Handmade items are just so much more special, one of a kind," said crafts maker Michelle Kwiatkowski. "The experience is just nice. You can come sit by the fire, listen to music. You get to know the person who made it."

And the art market is hitting the road. It is heading to Hillsborough Winery, Brewery, and Vineyards in Purcellville, Virginia, next.
