Stuck steam valve identified in Plymouth HAZMAT incident

PLYMOUTH, Ind. (WSBT) -- A hazardous materials incident last night in Plymouth sounded worse than what it turned out to be.

Just before 6 p.m., Plymouth Firefighters were called to Zentis North American Food.

The initial report said two chemicals had mixed and formed a vapor cloud inside the building on Oak Drive.

The South Bend Fire Department HAZMAT team was called in.

During the investigation it was found that a valve had stuck open on a high-pressure steam line.

There was no dangerous leak, only steam.

Plymouth's fire chief says three workers were taken to the hospital as a precaution, but no injuries were reported.
