The officiating jathedar (chief) of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Giani Kuldip Singh Gargajj, visited the family of caste killing victim Kavin Selvaganesh at Arumugamangalam in the district on Tuesday.
Jathedar Gargajj met Kavin's father Chandrasekhar and mother Tamil Selvi, extending solidarity with the grieving family and assuring them that the Sikh community stood firmly with them in their pursuit of justice.
The deceased was a nephew of Tamil Sikh and Supreme Court lawyer S. Jeevan Singh, at whose invitation Jathedar Gargajj visited his family.
Jathedar Gargajj said it was painful that even today the world continued to witness incidents of casteism, racial discrimination and caste killings.
He offered prayers seeking divine strength and courage for the bereaved family to continue their struggle for justice. He also prayed for the eradication of divisions based on caste, creed and social hierarchy, which continued to claim many lives and called for the spread of the Gurus' teachings of universal brotherhood and equality.
Jathedar Gargajj told Mr. Chandrasekar to fight the legal battle with courage to secure justice for his son and to send a strong message to society against caste-based discrimination, ensuring that such tragedies did not repeat.
