Spin Showdown: Windies' All-Spin Attack Creates ODI History in Dhaka | Sports-Games

The West Indies executed an unprecedented all-spin bowling strategy against Bangladesh in Dhaka's second ODI. Despite the spin dominance, Bangladesh posted a challenging 213/7, thanks to Soumya Sarkar's knock and a late blitz by Rishad Hossain. West Indies aim to recover from a 1-0 series deficit.

In a historic twist, the West Indies cricket team deployed an all-spin attack against Bangladesh in the second One Day International (ODI) at Dhaka's Shere Bangla National Stadium. This marked the first time a team has ever completed an ODI inning using only spinners. The visitors used this unique strategy as they trailed 1-0 in the three-match series and eyed automatic qualification for the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup.

The spin quintet comprised Akael Hosein, Roston Chase, Gudakesh Motie, Khary Pierre, and Alick Athanaze, each contributing 10 overs. Taking advantage of a pitch similar to the spinner-friendly conditions from the first ODI, Windies aimed to thwart the Bangladesh batsmen. Despite the spin onslaught, Bangladesh managed a respectable 213/7 in their allotted 50 overs, with key contributions from Soumya Sarkar and a game-changing partnership between Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Rishad Hossain.

Motie emerged as the standout bowler for the Caribbean side, claiming 3 for 65, while Athanaze impressed with a tight spell of 2 for 14 in 10 overs. Hosein also made his mark with two wickets for 41 runs. As the series progresses with West Indies in pursuit of redemption, they'll look to overcome their earlier shortcomings where they struggled with a target of 208 and fell to 133 runs in the first ODI.
