Bathinda: A central team deputed to assess losses in flood-affected regions commenced its visit to Punjab from Fazilka district on Thursday. The team conducted a ground-level assessment by visiting villages across the Satluj creek on boats with divisional commissioner Manjit Singh Brar, deputy commissioner Amarpreet Kaur Sandhu, and senior superintendent of police Gurmeet Singh.The team comprises under secretary (rural development) Sudip Dutta, director (agriculture) Laxman Ram Buldak, deputy director (jal shakti) Prakash Chand, and CEA (power) RK Tiwari. The members checked damage to crops, houses, and basic infrastructure.During the visit to Noor Shah village, Fazilka MLA Narinder Pal Singh Sawna briefed the central team about the prevailing local conditions. The team also inspected the affected areas of Noor Shah, Ghurka, Kawanwali Pattan, and surrounding villages to evaluate the extent of losses.
