The driver of a Mercedes-Benz sedan died and his passenger suffered major injuries Saturday after he veered off Manor Street and rolled several times into a field, according to the Bakersfield Police Department.

The single-vehicle incident happened at about 2:11 p.m. at Manor Street, just south of Denise Avenue, where the driver had been heading south when he veered from the lanes of travel and rolled into the field west of the road, a BPD news release said. Both men, whose names were not released, were ejected from the car.
