Titled Kissed by the Devil, the debut novel is by St Helens writer C.H. Elton and was published on October 16.

Based in New Bold, Mr Elton explores the dark side of revenge and redemption through the story of Julian, a young man bullied for being gay who makes a pact with the Devil after a near-fatal attack.

The book blends psychological suspense with supernatural horror.

C.H. Elton said: "I wanted to write something that exposes the real emotional damage bullying causes, but through the lens of dark fantasy.

"It's terrifying, tragic and deeply human.

"Julian's deal with the Devil isn't just supernatural, it's symbolic of what happens when we're consumed by anger."

A paperback edition is expected to be released later this week.
