Arrest made in Tuesday's road rage incident

The suspect, 34-year-old Michael Snyder, turned himself in at the Grand Junction Police Department Wednesday evening. Snyder was arrested for third-degree assault and released on a summons.

The arrest stems from an incident that originally occurred around 9:20 a.m., Tuesday, at North Seventh Street and North Avenue.

Snyder - who was driving a gray four-door Honda sedan - exited his car and allegedly assaulted the driver of another vehicle. He got back into his car and then fled the scene. The victim sustained minor injuries from the assault.

Authorities identified Snyder thanks to the aid of the community and contacted him by phone, according to the police department.

"The Grand Junction Police Department would like to remind drivers that road rage can escalate quickly, leading to dangerous situations for everyone involved," GJPD said in a press release. "Aggressive driving not only puts lives at risk but can also result in serious legal consequences."

The police department also said it believes this was an isolated incident and it thanks the community for its help in giving information about the case.
