Keene, Swanzey homes earn holiday display accolades

The home at 23 Butternut Drive took second place in Keene's decoration contest. More than 30 houses participated.

The votes are in for the merriest-decorated homes in Swanzey and Keene, on the heels of holiday light tours in both communities.

In Keene, the home at 62 Hilltop Drive took first place, with 23 Butternut Drive and 10 Sweeney Road winning second and third, respectively, according to a Keene Recreation Department Facebook post. The Dec. 25 announcement did not mention the number of votes cast, but organizers said 32 houses participated in the competition. People cast their votes in an online form from Dec. 6-23.

Swanzey's winning home was 52 North Winchester St., with 141 votes. The home at 36 Mountainview Road took second place with 132 votes, and with 89 votes, 50 Hackler Drive got third place.

The Swanzey Recreation Department said on Facebook that 19 homes participated and more than 450 votes were cast. Online voting ran from Dec. 6-23.

The Swanzey winners received vouchers from local restaurants, according to Recreation Director Ashlee Crosby. The Keene winners received "shout-outs" on the city's recreation department social media accounts, organizers said previously.
