Amazon launched Kindle Recaps back in April for their e-readers and said the feature would be coming soon to iOS devices, such as the iPhone. The Kindle app for iOS has just been updated, and Kindle Recaps is now available for users in the United States.
For fans of book series, recalling plots and characters after a long reading break or a wait between new releases can be a challenge. Kindle's new Recaps feature works much like the "Previously on..." segment before a TV show. Available on both Kindle devices and the Kindle app for iOS, Recaps makes it easier for readers to dive into the next book in their favorite series by providing a quick refresher on storylines and character arcs. Since launch, Recaps has significantly expanded to include thousands of additional best-selling English-language e-books in series that Kindle readers in the U.S. either purchased or borrowed.
Recaps content is generated with Gen AI and Amazon moderators to create short recaps of books that accurately reflect book content," Amazon spokesperson Ale Iraheta told Good e-Reader. Users seem happy with the feature, and three doesn't seem to have any negative backlash for inaccuracies.
To access Recaps on the Kindle app for iOS, customers can download the latest Kindle app from the App Store (version 7.40.1 or higher is required). To determine whether a series has Recaps available, look for the "View Recaps" button in the series page in your Kindle Library. On Kindle devices, you can select "View Recaps" from the three-dot menu within the series grouping. On the Kindle app for iOS, this same option appears when you press and hold the series grouping.
