Heather M. Hallstein

Heather Hallstein, age 50, of Shakopee, died Tuesday July 31, 2007 at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.

Heather was born June 15, 1957 in Abbottsford, British Columbia to parents Rudolph and Iris (VonTettenborn) Nast. She was married to Stephen P. Hallstein. Heather was a dedicated Sunday School Teacher at Berea Evangelical Lutheran Church and a member of the Friends of the Library in Shakopee. She was employed in Administration for the Veterans Administration.

She is survived by husband, Steve; four daughters, Kathryn (Michael) Kahleck of Osceola, Wis., Elisabeth, Leah and Melanie all of Shakopee; her mother Iris Nast of Victoria, British Columbia, three brothers; six sisters; nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her father and two infant brothers.

Funeral services were Saturday, August 4, at 11 a.m. at Berea Evangelical Lutheran Church, Inver Grove Heights with The Reverend David Schierenbeck officiating. Visitation was one hour prior to the service, also at the church. Pallbearers were Mickey Kahleck, Dan Beckman, Don Kirchgatter. David Rehm, Kurt and Ryan Augustin, and Steve Ludvigson. LaVonne Menk

LaVonne Menk, age 79, of Prior Lake, died suddenly on August 4, 2007 at Fairview Ridges Hospital in Burnsville.

LaVonne was born March 14, 1928 at Cottonwood Township, North Dakota to parents John Ellsworth Lloyd and Jessie Ann Gillespie Lloyd. She married Leslie Eugene Menk on October 15, 1949 at First Lutheran Church in Fessenden, N.D. She was a member of Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church in Prior Lake and American Lutheran Church in Sun City, Ariz.

Survived by children Beverly (Kevin) Raun of Cottage Grove, Ronald Menk of Prior Lake, Brian Menk of Prior Lake, five grandchildren, Kristin (Peter) Koerner, Jason Menk, Greg Menk, David Raun, Mandi Menk, three great-grandchildren Alec and Kayla Koerner, Sam Menk; sister Donna Quick of Bloomington; brothers Mick (Adeline) Lloyd Jack (Videll) Lloyd, both of Fessenden, N.D.

Preceded in death by husband, infant daughter Linda Rae Menk; infant grandson Daniel Raun; and her parents.

Visitation was Wednesday, August 8, 4-8 p.m. at Ballard-Sunder Funeral Home, 4565 Pleasant St. SE, Prior Lake, also at the church one hour prior to service. Funeral Service is Thursday, August 9 at 11 a.m. at Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church, 13760 McKenna Rd., Prior Lake. Interment at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.

Pallbearers are Jason Menk, Greg Menk, Pete Koerner, David Raun, Alec Koerner, Joe Sampeer.
