Swindon North MP Will Stone recently met with Brigadier Stu Nass OBE, the UK lead on Drone Capability to discuss Swindon's "position as the emerging drone hub of the UK," and how to ensure British soldiers get access to the latest kit and technology.
He said this would protect them, and maintain the UK armed forces capabilities as a premium force.
He also recently met with Jason Crawford from Drone Match, a company connecting businesses with suppliers to develop new drone technology.
The meeting follows the preparations of manufacturer Tekever to open its new facility in the north of the town.
The company aims to rekindle the manufacturing heritage of the region by developing new ideas, products, and manufacturing drones, including some larger models.
The new site is expected to create hundreds of jobs.
Mr Stone has played a role in Tekever's move to Swindon, assisting the company in its search for premises.
He also contributed to the establishment of three other drone tech-oriented firms in Swindon.
