DirecTV is back with the third iteration of its national 'For the Birds' campaign, again featuring Henry Winkler (Frank) and Steve Buscemi (Bobby).
This time, the duo is joined by Tammy the Squirrel, an energetic new character voiced by actor, comedian and writer Kristen Schaal.
The 30-second hero spot, 'Squirrel,' showcases the fun, fast and slightly chaotic dynamic between the two grumpy pigeons and their hyperactive new neighbor while highlighting DirecTV's offerings.
"Our 'For the Birds' campaign continues to drive home the message that DirecTV is the best aggregator of premium content," commented Vince Torres, chief marketing officer at DirecTV. "Henry, Steve and now Kristen have built an animated world that resonates with consumers and helps us reinforce our service's seamless aggregation and satellite-free benefits."
As part of the wider campaign, the ad reinforces DirecTV's satellite-free streaming capabilities through its Gemini device, which allows customers to set up and stream national and local sports, news and entertainment within minutes.
"Kristen was the perfect choice to bring Tammy the Squirrel to life, adding a new level of energy and comedic timing to Frank and Bobby's world," Amy Leifer, chief advertising sales officer at DirecTV, added. "Her character perfectly mirrors the excitement and enthusiasm that comes with discovering just how easy it is to access and enjoy content through DirecTV."
Developed in partnership with TBWA\Chiat\Day LA, the 360-degree campaign will launch across linear, online video, and social media with 30 and 15 spots, plus digital display, high-impact digital out-of-home and audio placements.
