DB Cory Trice will not return this week for Steelers; TE MyCole Pruitt will

Pittsburgh Steelers defensive back Cory Trice Jr. will miss an eighth consecutive game Thursday as he remains on injured reserve because of a hamstring ailment.

Cory Trice will have to wait at least another week to make his return to the lineup for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

A second-year defensive back who was part of subpackages the first three games of this season, Trice (hamstring) has been in injured reserve for nine weeks and will remain there despite returning to practice last week. On the league-mandated status report released Wednesday for Thursday night's game at the Cleveland Browns, Trice was given an "out" designation.

Trice still has two more weeks in a window during which he can be activated to the active roster or else he is done for the season. It's possible the Steelers believe they have enough depth in the secondary that they do not feel the need to rush Trice back at this point. Trice has continually been listed as a full practice participant.

The only player on the active roster who will not play Thursday because of injury is outside linebacker Alex Highsmith, who missed this past Sunday's win against the Baltimore Ravens because of an ankle injury suffered in the prior game.

Reserve tight end MyCole Pruit (knee) also missed the Baltimore game but he has been cleared to play in Cleveland. Pruitt, Trice and Highsmith were the only injuries listed this week on the Steelers' injury report.
