Texas Coach Steve Sarkisian Has Positive Update on Quinn Ewers' Health

Texas Head Coach Steve Sarkisian met with the press via Zoom on Thursday, Nov. 21, ahead of the week 12 matchup against the Kentucky Wildcats.

One of the questions Sark answered was about starting quarterback Quinn Ewers and how healthy he is feeling.

"Quinn is the healthiest he's been since the injury," Sarkisian said.

The injury Sark alluded to was the oblique problem Ewers first suffered against UTSA in week three of the college football season.

Ewers missed two games following the injury, missing home matchups against Louisiana Monroe and Mississippi State, but returned after a bye for the Red River Rivalry, where Texas took down Oklahoma 34-3.

This season, Ewers has thrown for 1,898 yards for 21 touchdowns and three interceptions. He also holds a completion percentage of 68% and a quarterback rating of 70.8, which is 7th in the SEC.

There is no doubt that Ewers has not looked 100% since his injury. His longest run of the season is just nine yards. In 2023, he found a 21-yard gash against Washington in the College Football Playoff Semi-finals alone and also ran for a 30-yard burner against Kansas for a season-high.

Texas takes on two more opponents this season, and both games have playoff implications. If Kentucky beats the Horns, Texas' season might as well be over, and if Texas A&M knocks off the Longhorns, Texas can kiss goodbye to the SEC championship. With Sark claiming confidence in his starting QB's health, Texas fans should be feeling confident during the final stretch of the 2024-25 college football season.
