According to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, New England is giving Williams $26 million a year. This reportedly got the job done and the star defensive tackle is heading to the AFC East.

New England has been very active to start free agency but Williams seems to be the big get for them. The Patriots are looking to completely revamp their system and everything starts with the defensive end of the field.

Williams is coming off a Super Bowl win as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles so he brings some championship experience to New England. The star posted 24 total tackles and five sacks for Philadelphia this past season.

This is a massive addition for the Patriots as Williams has emerged as one of the better defensive tackles around the NFL. New head coach Mike Vrabel wants to have his teams be physical in the trenches and Williams will certainly provide the Patriots with that.

Williams was originally drafted in the third round of the 2021 NFL Draft by Philadelphia. His career has been spent proving people wrong and he will need to do it again with this massive contract.

The former Louisiana Tech product will now be given even more responsibility with the Patriots but he is up to the challenge. New England is coming off a 4-13 season and they want to get back to contending for a title as soon as possible.

With young quarterback Drake Maye under center, the sky is the limit for this Patriots team. It won't be easy but it seems that New England may be building themselves back up fairly soon.
