Yesavage fanned 11 batters over 5 1/3 no-hit innings Oct. 5 as Toronto thumped the Yankees 13-7 in Game 2 of the ALDS. The Blue Jays went on to win the series 3-1 after eliminating New York Wednesday night at Yankee Stadium.
Teammate Addison Barger called Yesavage's ascension to the major leagues "pretty special."
After starting the year in single-A Dunedin, Yesavage played at all four minor-league levels before joining the Blue Jays in late September, going 1-0 with a 3.21 ERA in three starts.
"To be able to able to do what he did in the regular season and in the Division Series is ... kind of unrealistic, but it's something he's been able to do and it's been amazing to watch," Barger said.
Blue Jays manager John Schneider said he went with Yesavage for Game 2 because he'll be able to pitch in front of a home crowd on Monday evening.
