Dunne, 22, has apparently had enough of the comments criticizing her for returning to LSU for a fifth year. In a TikTok video posted on Tuesday, March 11, the gymnast responded to a comment that said, "Don't worry, you'll be a senior for the next 10 years."
Speaking directly to the camera, Dunne sternly said, "I don't really understand what's so hard to get. I came to college in 2020, got granted a fifth year because of COVID and I came back for the fifth year."
Dunne asked, "Why do you care if I come back?"
She also noted that she "only ever" sees comments slamming college athletes for returning for a fifth year directed towards women. "The starting quarterback of LSU football is coming back for a fifth year. This comment is nowhere to be found on his account," Dunne pointed out.
The gymnast -- whose boyfriend Paul Skenes was named MLB rookie of the year in November -- said it's clear that the people leaving comments about Dunne's fifth year return "obviously were never a college athlete or never loved a sport."
"So, you're not funny," she added. "Why do you care what I'm doing with my life?"
Concluding her message, Dunne addressed commenters calling her "greedy" for returning to LSU, accusing her of taking the spot on the university's gymnastics team from another athlete. "I gave up my scholarship to somebody else so I could come back," Dunne revealed.
Dunne's video comes less than a week after she was forced to sit out the Tigers' final home meet on March 6 because of a knee injury. "It absolutely breaks my heart to not get the opportunity to compete in the PMAC one last time," Dunne said on her Instagram Story, referencing the arena at LSU. "Tiger fans, you've been so good to me!"
Dunne announced her return to LSU in July 2024, telling her fans that she's "not Dunne yet" at LSU.

"There's something about putting on a purple and gold leotard," she said in her announcement. "There's something about competing in front of 13,000 screaming Tiger fans. There's something about being pushed by your coaches to be your very best. And there's something about being a part of a team that made school history."
She continued, "And no matter how many opportunities come my way off the mat, there's just something about LSU. And that's why I'm here to say I'm not Dunne yet."
