The Nkawkaw Divisional Police Command has arrested three individuals for stealing sardines from a cargo truck involved in an accident on the Accra-Kumasi highway at Kwahu Fodua in the Kwahu West Municipality of the Eastern Region.

The fully loaded container, with registration number AA 119CY, was en route from Accra to Kumasi with a driver and his mate on board when it overturned, blocking traffic in both directions.

While the exact cause of the accident is still under investigation, preliminary findings suggest the driver swerved to avoid a pothole in the middle of the road, causing the vehicle to tip over.

The incident drew a crowd of community members and passersby. As some assisted in towing the truck to clear the road, three individuals were caught stealing sardines from the overturned container and were handed over to the police.

The driver and his mate have been admitted to Holy Family Hospital in Nkawkaw for treatment.
