BOYNTON BEACH, FL (BocaNewsNow.com) (Copyright © 2025 MetroDesk Media, LLC) -- The Boynton Beach Police Department is alerting the public in real time Wednesday afternoon that a large scene in the area of Gateway and I-95 is under control. The following is an official statement from Boynton Beach Police:

"BBPD dispatch received a report of a retail theft at the Dicks Sporting Goods store around 1:40 p.m. The suspects were last seen heading north on Congress Avenue before heading East on Gateway Boulevard in a black Nissan. A BBPD Sergeant spotted the vehicle stopped at the light at Gateway Boulevard and I-95 and a traffic stop was attempted at which point the driver attempted to flee, ramming the patrol car in front of him and then backing into the vehicle behind him.

The vehicle continued to flee the scene and turned southbound onto I-95. Due to the crash, one of the vehicles tires fell off and the vehicle became disabled driving into the median. As a result, four individuals have been detained. The investigation is ongoing."
