Thriller "One Battle After Another" and family drama "Sentimental Value" are likely to be among the top contenders when nominations are announced Monday for the 83rd annual Golden Globe Awards, kicking Hollywood's awards season into high gear.
"Sentimental Value" is a likely nominee for best motion picture drama, as are films such as "Sinners," "Frankenstein," "Hamnet," "The Secret Agent" and "It Was Just an Accident."
"One Battle After Another" -- which could wind up as the top film nominee thanks to an all-star cast featuring Leonardo DiCaprio, Benicio del Toro, Sean Penn and Chase Infiniti -- is a lock to be nominated for best motion picture musical or comedy. Other likely nominees include "Marty Supreme," "Bugonia," "Wicked: For Good" and "Jay Kelly."
All 28 Golden Globe categories -- covering both film and television -- will have six nominees this year, with the exception of Cinematic and Box Office Achievement, which will have eight. The nominations will be announced in a streaming format by actor/comedian Marlon Wayans and actress/philanthropist Skye P. Marshall.
The announcement will be streamed by CBS News beginning at 5:15 a.m. Pacific time.
On the small screen, awards season regulars "The Bear," "Hacks," "Abbott Elementary" and "Only Murders in the Building" are likely to land in the best comedy series race, along with newcomer and Emmy record-setter "The Studio."
"Severance" is a virtual lock for a best drama series nod, with other major contenders including "The White Lotus," "The Pitt," "Pluribus," "Andor" and "The Last of Us."
But Netflix's "Adolescence" is likely to be the big television nominee, almost certain to grab a nod for best limited series or movie. Other likely contenders in the category include "Black Mirror," "Dope Thief," "Sirens" and "Dying for Sex."
The Golden Globe Awards will be presented Jan. 11 at the Beverly Hilton, hosted by comedian/actress Nikki Glaser.
