The Second Windiest City in America Is In Minnesota

Cold winter days in are much more bearable, spring actually feels like spring, and summer adventures are much more enjoyable when the wind isn't howling. Unfortunately, conditions are rarely calm in one Minnesota city that was named one of the windiest cities in America.

The Weather Station Experts put together a list of the windiest cities in America by using the latest wind speed data from NOAA.

Ask anyone what the windiest city in America is and most will immediately say Chicago. The city in Illinois is known as the "windy city" so that's not a bad guess, but it's wrong. Chicago isn't even in the top 10.

The list of the windiest cities in America includes four cities in the Midwest which makes sense because of how flat it is across this region. Three cities in Texas made the list too which also didn't surprise me,

I didn't expect to see Boston (7) and New York City (9) in the top ten.

Rochester, Minnesota is the second windiest city in the United States with an average wind speed of 12.1 mph. The title of the windiest city goes to Amarillo, Texas, The average wind speed in Amarillo is 12.9 mph.
