An extreme cold warning was issued by the National Weather Service on Monday at 2:57 a.m. valid from 9 p.m. until Tuesday noon. The warning is for Sioux City Area as well as Plymouth, Cherokee and Ida counties.
The NWS states, "Dangerously cold wind chills as low as 37 below zero expected."
"The dangerously cold wind chills as low as 35 below zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 10 minutes," explains the NWS. "Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must go outside."
