A Jubo League leader who was arrested four months ago died in custody while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital yesterday afternoon.

The deceased, Mizanur Rahman Mizan of Kashil Purbapara area in Basail upazila, was arrested by Basail police and shown arrested in a case filed with Sadar Police Station, police said.

Mizanur, 40, was the senior joint convener of Basail upazila Jubo League. After being produced before a court, the judge sent him to jail, police sources said.

Tangail District Jail Superintendent Shahidul Islam said Mizan fell ill in jail on September 17 and was admitted to Tangail Medical College Hospital. When his condition deteriorated, he was taken to DMCH the next day.

Mizan had long been suffering from various ailments, including kidney problems and diabetes, he added.
