TROUBLED retailer Big Lots has waved goodbye to another popular location.
This comes as the struggling discount retailer announced hundreds of closure set for this year.
Big Lots filed for bankruptcy in September 2024 and has since closed branches across the US.
This branch was located in the Freedom Centre mall.
Big Lots announced on December 19, 2024, that it would shut down all of it's remaining locations.
Despite this, the chain later revealed it would be bought by Gordon Brothers Retail Partners, allowing some spots to stay open.
More than half of the retailer's 901 remaining stores are set to close.
The Watsonville branch however did not survive this and neither did another central California spot.
A Big Lots store in Gilroy, California, was also shuttered recently.
Some of the shuttered Big Lots spots have been taken over by other chains.
Discount chain Aldi will takeover an old Big Lots spot in Maine, The U.S. Sun has previously reported.
This will be the food chains first ever spot in the north east state.
The German retailer has agreed a lease on the store at the Pine Tree Shopping Center in Portland.
However, so far there's no opening date for the 25,000 square foot retail space, according to the Portland Press Herald.
The Brixmore Property Group manages the shopping center.
In an email to the Herald, spokesperson Maria Pace said: "We can confirm that we signed a lease with Aldi, contingent upon municipal approval.
"At this time, we do not have any additional information, but would be happy to share updates as we move forward in this process."
