This Buccaneers WR remains competitive as roster cuts begin

As the Buccaneers approach final roster cuts, wide receiver Ryan Miller has emerged as a strong candidate for the team's last wide receiver spot.

Miller has quietly had one of the most productive preseasons on the team, including a standout performance where he caught 6 of 7 targets for 66 yards. Coaches have praised his consistency and versatility, with head coach Todd Bowles calling him "tough, reliable" and highlighting his value on special teams.

Injuries have played a major role in creating opportunity. Chris Godwin Jr remains out for at least the first few weeks of the season, Jalen McMillan is expected to miss extended time with a neck injury, and depth concerns behind Mike Evans have pushed Miller up the depth chart.

He's taken advantage at every turn.

Miller also has familiarity with the offense, having been on the team since 2023 when he signed as an UDFA and has appeared in a handful of regular season games, 11 coming in the 2024 season, where he had 12 receptions for 128 yards and two touchdowns.

On top of performance, his cap hit sits under $1 million, making him a cost-effective option who contributes across offense and special teams. With production, reliability, and timing on his side, Miller has made a convincing case. He may not be a headline name, but his value as a do-it-all depth piece is exactly what Tampa Bay needs heading into the regular season.

All signs point to Ryan Miller earning a spot on the Buccaneers' 53-man roster.
