A downtown Orillia intersection was the scene of a dramatic collision Tuesday evening when a vehicle crashed into Poppies Bagel Company

Emergency crews responded to a collision Tuesday evening at the intersection of Mississaga Street West and Andrew Street North that left a car damaged and against the storefront of Poppies Bagel Company.

A witness said two fire trucks arrived at the scene, and the intersection was blocked while firefighters worked to access the vehicle.

"They were looking like they were struggling trying to get the door open," the witness reported.

The car came to rest against the front of the bagel shop, which is located at the corner of the downtown intersection. Firefighters, police, and paramedics attended the scene.

No details have been released about any injuries or the cause of the crash.

Traffic in the area was disrupted while emergency crews worked, and the investigation into the collision is ongoing.
