Dakota State professor named top 2% global scientist

MADISON, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - A Dakota State University Professor in the College of Business & Information Systems is celebrating a major academic achievement.

Dr. Abeer Alkhwaldi has been recognized as a top 2% scientist worldwide as part of a list compiled by Stanford University and Elsevier-2025.

"My rank of 80,775 out of over 236,000 researchers confirms I am in the top third of researchers globally," Alkhwaldi said. "Crucially, this means my research places me in the top 1% of the estimated 11.8 million total global researchers. This is quantifiable, third-party validation of the impact of my work in information and communication technologies."

Dr. Alkhwaldi began working at DSU in August from her previous institution in Jordan, where she served as head of the Management Information Department, assistant professor, and associate professor.

Her research interests include modern technology, AI, business intelligence, e-learning, the Metaverse, and more.

According to Dr. Alkhwaldi, she's continued to collaborate with DSU and a number of countries around the world, including India, the U.K., and Pakistan on a number of projects.

"Receiving those personalized congratulations was incredibly motivating and speaks volumes about DSU's commitment to research excellence," Dr. Alkhwaldi said.
