The Petes drew within a goal 48 seconds into the second period. Rookie left winger Adam Novotny beat goalie Matt Minchak, the goal coming just seconds off a draw on a Peterborough powerplay. For Czech import Novotny, a projected first-rounder in the 2026 NHL draft, it was his eighth goal of the season.
Adam Levac scored at the eight-minute mark to tie the game. Robin Kuzma restored a one-goal lead for Kingston 90 seconds later, but Peterborough again levelled the score, with Levac getting his second of the game.
A few shifts later, Levac had two bids for a hat trick, both on shorthanded chances. The Frontenacs had their only powerplay of the game later in the second period and Levac wound up with a breakaway on the penalty kill. Despite Kingston centre Tyler Hopkins desperately reaching and rapping his stick on Levac's hands, he managed to get the puck on goal and Minchak had to make a save. That was just a warm-up for the penalty shot called on the play and again Minchak turned Levac aside.
