ST. JAMES -- The Southern Boone Lady Eagles wrapped up a busy week Saturday afternoon with a 45-40 victory against the Waynesville Lady Tigers in the fifth-place game of the St. James Tournament.
Waynesville led 13-11 after one quarter, then Southern Boone held the Lady Tigers to one field goal in the second quarter to take a 17-16 halftime lead.
There were six leads changes in the second half. The score was tied at 27 at the end of the third quarter, then Southern Boone took the lead for good on a three-point play by Drew Wren with 3:47 to play, giving the Lady Eagles a 36-33 advantage.
Southern Boone shot 8-of-9 at the free-throw line in the final 43 seconds to secure the win.
Sadie Ahern made three 3-pointers, finishing with 11 points for the Lady Eagles, who played four games in five days last week. Liyah Prince also scored 11 points and Adisen Wren scored all eight of her points in the fourth quarter.
Regan Grosvenor had a game-high 14 points for Waynesville (4-11) and Riley Grosvenor also reached double figures with 12 points.
Southern Boone (4-10) will host Eldon in a Tri-County Conference matchup Monday night.
