HUMBOLDT -- Students across the Horizon School Division will head back to classrooms on Sept. 2, marking the first day of the 2025-26 school year.
While all students begin that day, some Kindergarten classes may have a staggered start during the first week, communications officer Jesse Green said.
Teachers returned earlier, with their first day back on Aug. 25.
The school calendar includes the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on Sept. 30, a statutory holiday recognized in Saskatchewan. Both students and staff will have the day off, as they did last year, Green said.

The calendar also shows an administration day on Dec. 22, the Monday before Christmas break. The division said this scheduling can vary from year to year, depending on instructional hour requirements set by the Ministry of Education. For full school calendars, visit the division's website.
Horizon School Division will open the fall with 42 schools. Among the changes:
Robert Melrose Elementary School and Kelvington High School have merged into a single K-12 school at the renovated high school building. In Lanigan, Lanigan Elementary and Lanigan Central High School have joined as the new Lanigan School, a K-12 facility. Teachers and students moved into the building this spring and are looking forward to making new memories in the modern space.
Horizon will also be the first school division in Saskatchewan to introduce a Mobile Early Learning Unit -- a movable classroom designed to support Pre-K and Kindergarten learners in communities without a formal program.
