Dev Deepawali: Varanasi to glow with lakhs of diyas, 3D laser show & fireworks | Central India's Premier English Daily

Varanasi, Oct 25 (UNI) After a magnificent Deepotsav in Ayodhya, all eyes are now on Kashi, where preparations are in full swing for Dev Deepawali 2025. From November 3 to 5, the ghats of Varanasi will glow with over 25 lakh diyas, along with 3D projection mapping and laser show and a choreographed fireworks display.

UP Tourism and Culture Minister Jaiveer Singh said, "Dev Deepawali is not just a festival of lights, it reflects the soul of Kashi. This year, visitors will witness an extraordinary combination of spirituality and innovation that will make their visit truly memorable."

On the night of Dev Deepawali, the crescent-shaped ghats of Kashi will transform into a river of light as 25 lakh diyas illuminate both banks of the Ganga. Of these, 10 lakh diyas are being arranged by the state government, while the rest will be lit by local ghat committees and volunteers.

From November 3 to 5, the Chetsingh Ghat and Ganga Dwar will host an immersive 3D projection mapping and laser show, blending mythology and modernity in a 25-minute presentation. The programme will narrate the sacred stories of Ganga, Lord Shiva, Kashi, and Dev Deepawali through vibrant visuals, 17 minutes of projection mapping, and an 8-minute laser sequence.

A spectacular 10-minute choreographed fireworks display will light up the Kashi sky across a 1.5 km stretch of the river. Reaching heights of nearly 200 meters, the synchronized fireworks will feature eco-friendly green crackers and computer-controlled choreography.

The show is being designed to meet international standards of safety and sustainability, giving visitors a dazzling yet responsible spectacle. More than 10 lakh devotees and tourists are expected to visit Kashi for Dev Deepawali this year. The district administration is ensuring smooth arrangements for safety, crowd management, and traffic flow.

Tourism Information Officer Nitin Kumar said, "Preparations at the ghats, including cleaning and illumination, are progressing rapidly. Ahead of Dev Deepawali, a four-day Ganga Mahotsav will be held from November 1 to 4."
